Integrism refers to the identification of religious or political beliefs with past cultural structures or institutions in history. It entails believing in absolute truth and imposing its acceptance. Societies adhering to integrism reject evolution, advocating for tradition or doctrinal rigidity. Key characteristics include inactivity, resistance to adaptation, opposition to development and evolution, adherence to tradition, conservatism, dogmatism, and unwillingness to compromise.

Roger Garaudy – Integrism (Cultural Suicide)

The proposal stands against integratist discourse and actions prevalent in our country today, particularly evident in mosque architecture.

The project site is situated between Halide Edip Adıvar Street and Piyalepaşa Boulevard. A primary objective of the proposal is to create a structure that harmonizes with its environment and neighborhood, extending beyond its function as a mosque.

The courtyard concept, organizing functional units around the social complex architecture, significantly influenced the proposal’s development. Steps at the junction of the courtyard and Halide Edip Adıvar Street allow seamless public access. The proposal aims to transform the currently idle green area between the competition site and Piyalepaşa Boulevard into urban space through the courtyard, integrating it into daily life.

The gathering area, situated at street level (0.00) on Halide Edip Adıvar Street, provides direct access to the narthex and main mosque space while maintaining visual connectivity with the courtyard. The main prayer hall occupies this level, with the Women’s Assembly section located on the middle floor. Service units integral to the complex are arranged around the courtyard at a level of-3.50. Vehicle access to the area is facilitated via Bahçecik Street.
