High School Campus

The design of the MEB Istanbul Küçükçekmece Education Campus was driven by the decision to construct comprehensive education campuses in specific urban areas, aligning with Turkey’s increasing demand for educational infrastructure and the growing needs therein. These campuses aim to uphold high standards of education and provide optimal learning, sports, cultural, and social spaces for their users.

In designing the MEB Istanbul Küçükçekmece Education Campus, the goal was to create a vibrant social environment not only for educational purposes but also for its users. Spanning a vast area, the campus integrates educational, sports, cultural, and social activities. Particularly, public spaces are designed to open the campus not only to students but also to city residents.

Located in the Küçükçekmece district of Istanbul, south of the Tem Istanbul Edirne highway and parallel to 4th Street, the campus occupies approximately 115,565 m² and includes various buildings and green spaces. Central to the design are areas dedicated to social and cultural activities, such as a ceremonial area, amphitheater, conference hall, dining hall, and library.

The educational blocks consist of seven separate units with flexible structures, connected by pergolas and green spaces along the north-south axis to facilitate access to different learning and interaction areas. Environmental considerations such as natural ventilation and daylighting are integral aspects of the design.

The architectural language of the campus adopts a simple and clear approach. Building placement and design were optimized to maximize natural light and ventilation. Green spaces between buildings serve as cool, shaded meeting points, enhancing outdoor comfort and supporting environmental sustainability.

The campus’s energy-efficient design incorporates measures like perforated metal surfaces for sun control and landscaping with drought-resistant plant species. Interior streets and courtyards are designed to enrich outdoor life.

In conclusion, the MEB Istanbul Küçükçekmece Education Campus is a comprehensive project designed in accordance with modern educational standards. By offering educational and social spaces together, this campus aims to significantly enrich Istanbul’s cultural and intellectual life.
